Educational Diversity
The above census maps show that people in St. Ann and St. Jude tend to be more educated, with the effect becoming more pronounced with graduate degrees. The presence of UMSL is certainly a factor.
Income Diversity
Generally, the median household income increases heading west, but there are pockets of wealth in the eastern parishes that exceed the other areas in income.
Income Diversity
The predominant race in each census tract differs on each side of the highway. In at least one tract the predominant race is neither white nor black. Most parts of the pastorate are less than 70% of one race and many are diverse enough that the predominant race is not a majority.
Neighborhood Mobility
Overland, St. John, and Vinita Park have a relatively small number of people moving in each year. They are stable. High mobility can also mean the neighborhood is turning over, so it can be a sign of neighborhood health or decline.
Politics
The above map shows the percentage of republican ballots in the most recent primary election. The republican side did not have many competitive races. It is a heatmap based on polling locations results. Blue is deeply democratic, with well over 90% of ballots Democratic. Red, not shown in this part of the county, with up to 70% of ballots Republican. The in-between should be purple, but it is green…
In general the further west the more conservative the area.
Language
The non-English speakers are concentrated west of Hanley Rd.
