What is the Chaplet of Divine Mercy Chaplet?
Saint Faustina was born Helena Kowalska in the village of Glogwiec, west of Lodz, Poland, on August 25, 1905.
In the 1930’s, Sister Faustina received from the Lord a message of mercy that she was told to spread throughout the world.
She was asked to become the apostle and secretary of God’s mercy, a model of how to be merciful to others, and an instrument for sharing God’s plan of mercy for the world.
Excerpt from St. Faustina’s Diary:
“My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge for all souls, and especially poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of mercy upon those souls who approach the font of My mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day are opened all the divine floodgates through which graces flow. Let no soul fear to draw near Me, even thought its sins be of scarlet. My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it through all eternity. Everything that exists has come from the very depths of My most tender mercy. Every soul in its relationship to Me will contemplate My love and mercy throughout all eternity. The Feast of Mercy emerged from the very depth of tenderness. It is My desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Font of My mercy.”
With this revelations, Saint John Paul II declared every Second Sunday of Easter to be “Divine Mercy Sunday”.
A Divine Message and Prayer Group
The message of Divine Mercy is simple. It is that God loves us-all of us. And, He wants us to recognize that His mercy is greater than our sins, so that we call upon Him in trust, receive His mercy, and let it flow through us to others. This is true joy! Join us on the Frist Friday of every month in the St. Ann Parish Center Assembly room at 9:00 a.m. for an hour of prayer and discussion. At each prayer meeting we pray for the needs of those in our parish, especially the sick and the homebound. St Ann offers the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at 8:00 a.m. followed by Adoration on the Frist Friday of each month. Let us all pray for each other.
